Is the entire process dustless?
Dustless sanding of wood floors does not mean dust free. Dust Containment Systems will usually keep about 97% of the dust from becoming airborne into your home or office.
What kind of finish do you use?
We use a water based wood floor finish on our jobs with low VOC counts. After all, our world is going green these days.
How durable is your finish?
We only use water based finishes that have the highest amounts of solids in them to give the longest life possible for your hardwood floors.
What if I have water damage in my hardwood floors?
If you have sustained water damage to your hardwood floors, they need to be dried as soon as possible to prevent further damage once the cause of the water damage has been identified and corrected.
In many cases, water damaged hardwood floors can be saved and simply refinished bringing them back to pre-loss condition if properly dried in time. We can potentially save you thousands in repair costs by simply refinishing your water damaged hardwood floors (once dried to its proper moisture content) rather than replacing them.
In some cases, water damaged hardwood has to be replaced due to excessive damage to the wood itself such as warping, twisting, or rotting. In this event, your wood floor will need to be replaced by a competent wood floor expert. Because most hardwood floor finishes and types react to exposure to UV light, it is very difficult to 'spot sand' only the water damaged area and blend it in with the existing floor. This is why we refinish all areas of your hardwood floor.
How do I know if I have water damage to my hardwood floor?
>When wood is exposed to excessive moisture, it will 'cup', meaning the edges of each plank or board will raise. This usually means that the hardwood floor still has a high Moisture Content (MC) and needs to continue to dry until it reaches equalibrium. Once hardwood flooring has reached its proper (MC), it will usually 'crown' giving it a pillowed look.
What should I use to maintain wood floors?
There are many good wood floor cleaners on the market. We recommend not using any that have wax in them. Once you have applied wax to your hardwood floors, sandless refinishing of your hardwood floors is almost never an option after that.
